Specification:
If the model is held at arm’s length (easier on a firm board) and shaken
lightly, the individual ‘atoms’ will vibrate and move independently due
to the springs holding them together, but they remain in the same
formation within the model, as they do in a solid.
This vibrating atom model demonstrates how atoms making up a solid (e.g. a crystal) are held together by spring-like forces.
best used for demonstration purposes due to the ease with which the springs can be bent or misplaced.
